Young people at heart of Spirit

Spirit of 2012, working with The Participation People, is recruiting young people from across the UK to be part of its Youth Advisory Panel. This will put young people at the centre of our future.

The Youth Advisory Panel will be a valued forum for providing young peoples’ perspectives to inform Spirit’s programme strategy, partnerships, governance, and communications.

The panel will be made up of nine young people, aged 18-30, who will be recruited every two years. Members will be drawn from across the UK, incorporating a balance of ages, gender and backgrounds. Youth engagement and empowerment is fundamental to Spirit’s vision; this panel will enable the individuals involved to develop their skills, contacts and confidence.

Their input and insight will help ensure the charity’s programmes remain committed to overcoming obstacles facing young people in the UK today. Members of the Youth Advisory Panel will have two years in post. Their main role will be to act as champions for and advisers to Spirit. They will attend regular meetings, have access to training, mentoring and self-development opportunities, but most of all have a lot of fun!

The panel will have the opportunity to help guide Spirit’s grant-giving decisions, and to visit and report back on Spirit-funded projects that promote opportunities across community sport, culture and the arts, education and volunteering. Spirit is delighted to be working with The Participation People to facilitate the Youth Advisory Panel. The Participation People is a specialist youth engagement agency whose mission is to empower young people to inform and influence decision-making, producing positive change in communities.
