Our Youth Advisory Panel launches new challenge fund

The Spirit of 2012 Youth Advisory Panel (YAP) today launches a new Challenge Fund, calling for applications from organisations working to tackle mental health issues among young people in Wales and north-east England.

“As Chair of the Spirit of 2012 Youth Advisory Panel, I am super excited to announce the new YAP Challenge Fund,” said Michaela Collins. “This is a unique funding opportunity opened up to organisations that help tackle the stigma of mental health in children and young people through the arts.”

According to the Mental Health Foundation, one in ten children and young people are affected by mental health problems such as depression, anxiety and conduct disorder. Yet 70% of those who experience mental health problems do not have appropriate interventions at a sufficiently early age.

Spirit of 2012 has committed to investing £75,000 over two years to a project that can deliver lasting results for young people.

“We hope to see innovative and creative ideas and approaches in the YAP Challenge Fund applications with a strong focus on meaningful collaboration to maximise impact,” said Michaela.

Interested organisations should submit an expression of interest before 9am on 5 February 2018.
